(The intro theme plays. It is still the classic Daria theme, but shows a different girl in the opening sequence, with scenes in various places in New York City, such as an art museum, in a big mall, and in front of a high school building with a large sign across the top of the entrance doors that says "Hartley Tech Jaguars Rule!") Felicity in "Miss Rebel" Written by Adelina Peterson lovethebanglesforever (a) gmail.com EXT. Sunnyside Apartments, New York City INT. Unit 507, Felicity's Room BGM: Bananarama - I Want You Back (There is a closeup of a sign hung up on the door to a bedroom. The sign reads out "Totally Studying", and the sign, shortly after, is covered by the sight of the back of a woman's shoulders as she opens the door. Her sleeves are green, and her hair is a brownish color. You can tell that this woman is Daria.) (Pan over a room, with walls painted a dark blue. Note the plastered posters of various bands on the walls, such as Heart and Bananarama. This was definitely not Daria's room.) (Cut to a teenage girl with disheveled, medium brown hair sitting at her study desk. She appears to be 16 years old, and she is reading a December 1986 issue from Archie..) (Cut to of the multiple study books on the desk, one reading out "AP US History Study Guide", and a packet with the haphazardly stapled together pages titled "Dummy's Guide to Passing Ms. Middleton's AP Physics Class in Hartley Tech". There is also a bag that reads out "Memorabilia You Wanna See". The girl at the desk turns her body to the door to see her mother, the lady at the door. Pan up of her figure. This woman is definitely Daria Morgendorffer.) (The music stops. Cut back to Felicity at her desk.) Felicity: Oh, hey Mom. (She looks back at her book.) Daria: Okay, Lissy. (Beat) I wish I were joking, but we're going to Lawndale tomorrow morning. Aunt Quinn's getting remarried and Grandma said we had to be there for her to prepare. I just called Jane and she'll be coming along. Felicity: (Looks back up to Daria) Oh? Cool. You know, I've been meaning to ask Aunt Quinn personally for advice. It's been 8 years since the last time we've gone to Lawndale, huh. Daria: Yeah, and we'll all go on a shopping trip together, and everything's gonna be swell. Felicity: (Beat) Okay, but for real, though, I need to go to Aunt Jane's old house. She's been telling me about her old statues. Daria: Yeah, I'm sure I could think of something. If that Wind guy lets us in. Felicity: So you think the new girl divorced him? Daria: It's likely. (Cut to a time skip to the next day, during the sunset.) EXT. They begin to enter Downtown Lawndale as the sun sets. Daria's compact car is going approximately 75 mph. BGM: *Manic Monday* by The Bangles plays on the radio. INT: Daria is the one driving the bunch, and Jane and Felicity are sitting at the back of the car. Daria and Jane seem displeased with the overly upbeat pop sound, but Felicity enjoys the song. Jane: Hey, look Lissy, a bird. And we're going fast now. Daria: Getting into Carter County was the hard part. Felicity: (She pays no attention to her mother or to Jane, and sings along to the bridge of the song.) ...Come on, honey! Let's go make some noise! Daria: Oh, boy. (Cut to after the song.) (The three girls remain quiet for a few seconds before Felicity strikes up a conversation.) Felicity: So, are we like, nearer to Grandma and Grandpa's house? Daria: Just a few thousand miles. Felicity: (Beat. She looks out the window.) Oh dang, I see Lawndale High! Jane: The halls of fond memories. Daria: Where I met the ever-so charming Upchuck. Jane: Yes, so very handsome he was. Felicity: (laughing) Was he as bad as those butt-guys from freshman year? Daria: Not even close. Felicity: (Yet another beat, and then she starts teasing her mother.) So, are we gonna see that supposedly cool guy you liked in junior year? Daria: Oh yeah, cause I'm soooo in love with him. Jane: He's out and about in the world. Not sure if he'd come over to Lawndale on a random day. Felicity: I know you're over him now, but I just find your entire deal with him so funny. I mean, my mom? A silly girl in love? Jane: You love listening to those stories, don't you Lissy? Felicity: Well, why wouldn't I? Daria: Look, Lissy, you're not gonna like that kid in your chemistry class forever either are you? Felicity: (She begins to sulk and look out the window, until she processed what Daria said.) Wait, Mom, you read my diary?! Scene: EXT. There is a view of the road, and Daria's car begins to go far into the distance. BGM: "I Always Knew" by The Vaccines starts playing as background music during their banter. Daria: (V.O., out loud) Let's say I heard from a little birdie. Felicity: (V.O., out loud and upset) Aunt Jane, I trusted you! Jane: (V.O., out loud) She may be your mom, but she's my most trusted confidante, mi amor. (Music continues into the commercial break card. The lyrics of the first verse play here. Fading in is a picture of Felicity's school work, and afterwards a picture of Felicity talking with Daria in her room about their planned trip to Lawndale.) Commercial break... (Music comes on again, but this time, it's the instrumental of the Daria theme song. A picture of a scene of Felicity teasing her mother in the car appears.) EXT. The Morgendorffer House (There is a doorbell sound effect that can be heard.) (Cut to a closeup of the door, where an aged Helen Morgendorffer opens said door. She has a surprised face.) Helen: Oh, Daria! You actually came! Daria: (Widening her eyes) Yes, I totally would not miss my baby sister getting married for the second time, for the world. Helen: Still the same as ever I see. Well, come inside. Your room is still intact, so you and Felicity can stay there. (ENTER Jake, who walks down the stairs to see his own daughter at the door forthe first time in a long while. He goes to the door.) Jake: Daria, my daughter! Daria's friend! And... um, who is this young lady, Helen? (Helen becomes evidently angry with Jake.) Helen: Jake, that is your GRANDDAUGHTER. Jake: Granddaughter? When did I have a granddaughter? Felicity: Since the year 2000, Gramps. Jake: Oh, it's you! Lissy! You've grown so much! How old are you now? Felicity: Oh, brother. (ENTER Quinn, who walks down the stairs after hearing the news.) Quinn: Oh! Daaaaria. I didn't think you'd come here. Daria: Congrats, Quinn. Did you forget about my cute little daughter Felicity? She was so looking forward to seeing *you*. (She eyes Felicity in a knowing way.) (Pan to Felicity, who was not very amused with seeing Quinn.) (Flashback to a young Felicity in front of her aunt Quinn.) Felicity: You're lying, Aunt Quinn! You're lying so bad! Quinn: Lissy. If you truly wanna fit in at your school, you're gonna have to stop listening to that band of yours. Felicity: But I don't want to, Aunt Quinn. They're the best band ever! Quinn: Look, you have to become your persona or else you can't be popular, but even if you don't wanna become popular- Felicity: Nuh-uh! I'm not giving up Bowling For Soup! I hate you, Aunt Quinn! I hate you! (She suddenly gets up from the floor and runs out.) Quinn: Wait, no, Lissy- I said that wrong, I... Felicity...? (Quinn trailed off her words as Felicity ran out of the room.) (Back to the present.) Felicity: Yeah, mom, I'm so excited. Where are the three musketeers, by the way? Quinn: They're with their dad for the week until the wedding. Daria: Uh, anyway, Lissy, we've got to get our bags upstairs. Come on, I'll finally show you my super secret diary that's all about my first love, and we'll girl talk the night away. Felicity: Oh, Mom, don't teeease me like that! Helen: Would you like to stay with us too, Jane? Jane: Sure thing, Mrs. Morgendorffer. (faces Felicity) I'll tell you about the time your mom wore contacts to school. Felicity: You already told me that story. Jane: Oh. Well then, *you* can tell *me* about your deepest darkest secrets. Felicity: No can do, ma'am. If I do that, I can't bribe my mom with my knowledge of *that* alien fic she wrote. Jane: Got me there. Daria: Yep. (Helen looked at the three with a confused look.) INT: The Morgendorffer House, Daria's Room (Pan over the room. The room was indeed still intact.) Daria: You get the bed, Lissy. Felicity: Ooh, thanks Mom. (Felicity drops her suitcases and goes to the bed. Daria and Jane go over and sit down beside the bed. Felicity puts her backpack on the bed and takes out her CD player, laying it down on the bed. She sits on the bed, and reaches into her backpack to take out two albums. She looks at both with a confused look. She takes them out.) Felicity: (Holding out the two CD cases) Hey, mom. "A Hangover You Don't Deserve" or "Let's Do It For Johnny"? Daria: Neither. Felicity: (shrugs) "A Hangover You Don't Deserve" I guess. (Felicity puts the CD into her CD player. As "Almost" starts playing, Quinn walks into the room and approaches Felicity.) Quinn: Hey, uh, Lissy? Felicity: Oh, hey Aunt Quinn. I never knew you liked this band. Quinn: I *don't* but, um, you know, you don't have to, you know, give up listening to this band if you like them that much. And you can always come to me if you want, like, fashion advice. I am your aunt, after all. (Felicity pauses the music.) Felicity: I know I don't have to give up liking that band, but I don't really need advice now. Quinn: Okay, but if you need a little girl talk, I'm always here. (Felicity spaced out for a second, imagining talking to Quinn.) (Felicity imagines talking at a familiar pizza place with Quinn. In this situation, they are sitting in front of each other in a booth.) Felicity: And so, Mal was devastated, while Gigi was so happy to be going to the rodeo on the weekend. Quinn: That's soooo interesting, Lissy! Anyway, you got any boy dramaaa? I promise I won't tell Daria! Felicity: You'd pinky promise? (Quinn takes Felicity's hand and locks her pinky finger with hers.) Quinn: Pinky promise. (She snaps back into reality.) Quinn: So, Lissy, how about it? Felicity: Actually, I think I may need advice on something. Quinn: Wait, really? I- (Felicity grabbed her phone and started to pull Quinn closer to her by the arm, while walking out of Daria's room.) Felicity: Yeah, tell me, Aunt Quinn, where did you always hang out in high school? I dunno, I'm just curious. Quinn: You really want to know? Well, I was always on dates, but when it was me and the gals, we would always go to this store... (Quinn's words fade out into the start of the song "Ohio (Come Back To Texas)" by Bowling For Soup. Cut to a view from right outside the door. As Quinn and Felicity go out the door and turn to the stairs, the camera pans over, to Daria's face, clearly irritated. Cut to Jane's face, who just looks at Daria and blinks.) (The music once again continues into the commercial break card. A picture of Quinn trying to tell Felicity how to become popular appears. Then, it fades into the scene of Felicity holding up the two CD cases.) -Another commercial break!- (The commercials end, and there is a picture of Quinn in front of Daria's door. The Daria theme song instrumental plays.) INT: Morgendorffer House, Daria's Room (Jane and Daria are sitting in front of each other beside the bed. Daria stares at Felicity's CD player, while Jane stares at the ceiling, trying to ignore the tension.) Jane: You know, Daria, it's fine not to be the perfect mother. Daria: I know, Jane, but I feel guilty about it. I know stuff that she doesn't want me to know, and the worst part is that she doesn't feel comfortable with the fact that I know about it. Jane: And that's the way teenagers are. She's 16, of course she feels the need to keep secrets. Daria: I guess that's true. Jane: So yeah, let's talk to her once she gets back. Anyway, want pizza? Daria: Always. But we should check up on Lissy. Who knows what horrors she's going through at this moment. EXT: A view of all of Lawndale Mall INT: Cashman's Department Store BGM: Spice Girls - Say You'll Be There (Quinn and Felicity look around for clothes. Felicity is holding the basket, while Quinn is searching through the clothes, and throwing whatever she feels is right into the basket.) Quinn: Oh, this one would look great on me.. This one too... This one's pretty, but it's definitely not me. But it would look GREAT on you. Felicity: (tired) Aunt Quinn.. how long is this gonna take? Quinn: Lissy, we're only halfway finished! Just hold on for a little longer, okay? Felicity: Okay... fine...! Quinn: (Eyeing a hot pink skirt) Wait, I think this shade of pink would look amazing on you! Come here! Felicity: (Sluggishly walking towards Quinn) Fine. Quinn: Stand up confidently, girl! We can't show these babies off without the right posture, no? Felicity: Oh yeah! Sure thiiiing! EXT: The door of Cashman's Department Store (Quinn happily walks out carrying half of their bags, while Felicity walks out of the store feeling exhausted. Her posture is worse than ever, and she looks up to see her mother standing there waiting for her.) Jane: ...Five, six, seven bags. You owe me 5 bucks, Miss Morgendorffer. Daria: (pulling out her wallet) Damn. INT: Pizza King BGM: Cagnet - Deeper and Deeper (The four are sat down in a booth. In front of them are two pepperoni pizzas, and they are all eating quite peacefully.) Felicity: Thanks for driving us here, Aunt Quinn. I was really hungry. Quinn: Well, it's no problem at all, Lis! I know I can be a bit much, so I'm sorry for putting you through all that. (The table became silent again, all of them eating their pizza.) Daria: I'm sorry too, Felicity. (Quinn nearly choked as she drank her water. It had been so long since she'd seen her that she only knew the Daria she grew up with. It was rare for her to see her empathetic side. She smiled a bit seeing it.) Felicity: How come, Mom? Daria: I mean, I'm your mom so I feel like being invested in everything you do. And I thought it was fine because we're so close. We joke around with each other like we're friends and stuff. But I messed up and lost your trust. I'm sorry. Felicity: I understand, Mom. (sigh) I can't guarantee that I won't hide anything from you, but I know I can go to you for stuff, so um, don't feel bad about that. I trust you with a lot of stuff I can't trust my friends with, you know. Like the um, ketchup situation. Daria: Thanks, kid. Jane: Aw, that's the nicest you've been in 17 years, Daria. I'm so proud of you. Quinn: (She sighs of relief.) Oh, thank god! I thought it was just me that thought something was weird! Daria: Yeah, there should have been surprise confetti, huh. Quinn: Oh yeah, what's the ketchup situation? Jane: (serious) You really don't wanna know. INT: Morgendorffer House, Daria's Room BGM: Susanna Hoffs - My Side of the Bed (The same four girls are all in a circle, and made room for Felicity's computer, where she was in a Skype call with her best friends at school, Gigi and Mal.) Felicity: Ugh, that guy! I knew he was sketchy, I knew it! Gigi: And then what did he say, what did he say? Mal: He told me that we should just stay friends! The nerve of him to lead me on like that! Jane: Oh, you should have gotten revenge for that! Quinn: You gotta steal his heart and crush it into pieces! Daria: Quinn's an expert at that, by the way. Mal: Wouldn't that be, I dunno, too much? Felicity: Don't pretend you haven't done anything worse, Mal. Gigi: (nodding) Yeah, yeah. Tell them about the cupcake situation. Mal: (She laughs a bit) You *really* wanna go there? Jane: (Staring at the screen with anticipation) Is it juicy? Gigi: So much juice it's unbelievable, Mal: But nothing beats Cici's alarm clock situation. Gigi: Mr. Feinsworth was never the same after that. (Daria turned her head in Felicity's direction.) Daria: You mind explaining this? (The credits start rolling as "The Bitch Song" by Bowling For Soup plays. The alter-egos are as follows: Cinderella Daria, Jane at the Plaza, Maraca Dancer Jake... and other ones.)
